Fancy pilot lounge at Riverside Municipal

Our latest VFR cross country took us to Riverside Municipal. KRAL is located close to the LAX class Bravo airspace and there are several class C airspaces close by from various airports in this busy area. Not being familiar with southern California airspace we were a little worried at first when looking at the LA terminal area chart, but at the end things worked out just fine. Riverside is a fun flying destination.

You will be welcomed by the friendly people from Zenith Flight Support. Sit down and cool down in the really nice pilot lounge (see the picture on the top). Zenith was busy servicing some larger jets and our little C172 had to wait a little, but that was not a problem. There was no landing fee, and the overnight fees were waived with the purchase of fuel.
Miscellaneous:
We flew to KRAL to visit friends in Riverside. It is easy to get a rental car at KRAL, and it is not too far (approx. 1 1/2 hours) from Los Angeles. So if you want to see Los Angeles and want to avoid the busiest parts of LAX airspace, KRAL is a good choice. Since it is located inland, there is also a good chance that one can make it around the clouds which often get stuck close to Santa Moncia airport and along the coast.posted by Leif, July 26, 2006
